Our approach
Law
Legal scholars address the challenges of building a legal framework while technologies are still developing.
Ethics
Bioethicists determine how to weigh potential harms and risks associated with the development, distribution, and use of new technologies, and how these may impact different groups of people.
Governance
Governance is the process of steering society towards a set of policy goals. We aim to understand the kinds of capacity required to effectively promote the benefits of emerging technologies while mitigating harms.
Global
These questions of law, ethics and governance are global: emerging technologies impact global health in uniform and different ways. We need to identify systems, structures and principles that take global equity into account, and learn from regulatory approaches in different countries and settings.
